Yo, VPTurner, how did they do this?

The live show is a simple rear projection onto a sheet of translucent film.

Haven't seen the live performance, but it's possible that it's a lenticular screen running autostereoscopic. In the shot above, you can see two projection sources behind the screen. I saw something at the Luxor in Vegas a long time ago presented by Kodak where part of the set was an autostereoscopic screen. Would've been a neat effect if the film wasn't scratched.

Edit: No, scratch that. I'm seeing the audience reflected in the film. It's all rear projection.

That cracked article nailed it. I would LIVE in my holodeck. That second article is way over my head; I'll just trust that they're working on it.
