Some things seem like someone thought about it.

The industry standard since the 1950's (Academy) in cinema is the 1.85:1 aspect ratio. da Vinci's The Last Supper has an aspect ratio of 1.93:1.

This is creepy close if you do the math compared to all the other aspect ratios, nothing comes close. This is nuts because da Vinci never saw a movie.

The one that struck me was SD was 4x3, anamorphic was (4^2 x 3^2) or 16x9... squares of the non-anamorphic standard

Actually, it was the old resolution of 16X9, which essentially was 144 giant pixels operated by slaves behind the screen.
