Want to make it in Hollywood?
Sony Magazine is calling for all you budding filmmakers and animators out there to send us the trailer of your best film idea.
The winners of the competition will be jetting off to LA to talk their film ideas over with a top Hollywood producer at Sony Pictures Studios. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for all you wannabe moviemakers.
Pitch it up
All you need to do is to make a trailer of your original film, documentary or animation and send it in to us by August 31, 2008. It can be on any subject you like – from Fijian flamingo farming to the complexities of catching a cold - and can be up to 180 seconds. Think of the trailer as the pitch for your full-length film – ie. make it good.
BAFTA award-winning judges
Our panel of judges comprises Shane Meadows and Mark Herbert, the BAFTA award-winning director and producer of This is England; Peter Taylor, the MD of Sony Pictures UK; as well as Sony Magazine’s editor, Tim Southwell, and Hollywood journalist Martyn Palmer. Basically, you will get the chance to have your work watched by a pretty influential bunch.
What’s in it for you
For starters, you can reap some good publicity through having your trailer uploaded on www.sonymagazine.co.uk <http://www.sonymagazine.co.uk> Your work will also be watched by a panel of film-industry experts, which is no bad thing. And of course, you’ll be in with the chance of going on an all-expenses paid trip to Hollywood to meet some top industry experts.
Oh, and whatever happens, you’ll get some good trailer-making experience. Remember: it’s not the winning that counts, it’s the taking part. Though saying that, in this case winning would be nice...
