What's in your filmmaking kit?

Hey everyone,

What are the contents of your filmmaking kit and what is it mainly used for? I'm a firm believer in only use what you need and my kit does me for every occasion that has arisen so far.

My kit:
Cameras:
Panasonic GH4 with cage (mainly used for corporate and documentary)
Canon 60D (used for low budget narrative and some corporate)
2x16GB + 1x4GB SD cards
External HDD 250GB

Lenses:
Panasonic Lumix 45-200mm f/4-5.6
Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 (also have an adapter for the GH4)
Canon EF 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6

Lights:
3x800w redheads w/ dimmers
various gels/diffusers

Sound:
Zoom h4n recorder
Rode NTG-2
Sennheiser ew100 g3 wireless lav kit
Various XLR cables

I also have tripods, cheap shoulder rig etc.

What has everyone else got and why?

Notebooks- for writing, drawing lay outs, figuring out scenes

Celtx- still my favorite preproduction tool that takes my childish handwriting and makes it legible

1x Hackintosh with Autodesk Smoke, Nuke Studio, Resolve and Syntheyes because a lot of my work is VFX-centric these days.

A cinematographer friend

A bunch of sound professionals since I dont know anything about getting good production sound

Pens.

I do a camera share which means some of this kit is shared but:

GH4 (great little camera), Sony VG10
Samyang 16mm and 35mm
Sony 16 - 200mm
Nikon 50mm
A 40 year old Russian 85mm lens
A 50mm Sigma which I need to eBay as the Nikon is far superior.
Filters, batteries, 64 Gig cards etc...

Stabilisation:

Monopod, Tripod, Fluid Head (all Manfrotto video), shoulder rig and fig rig.

Lighting:

4 800w tungsten redcaps (two cheap Chinese, two top of the range).
1 Bowens LED light panel.
Gels.
Couple of bounces / diffusers.

Sundry:

Green screen with frame.
Random stand I picked up somewhere (free of charge) which fits literally nothing.
Broken steadicam Merlin (anyone want to buy it...?)
Wacom which is the best thing I've ever bought.

Computer:

i7 15 inch fairly quick Mac with FCP X, Motion
20 Gigs of storage

Am getting:

- Another camera (I hope)
- Another stabiliser

Sound:

Fostex FR2-le
ECM-674
Tascam DR100 for backup
Promix 3 mixer
Booms, softie (with dead kitty), shock mount, cans, loads of XLR

Most importantly: Gaffer tape. Miles of the stuff. If it can't be fixed with gaffer tape, it's not worth fixing.

Benefit of a camera / kit share is get lots of gear for literally nothing.

What are the Yongnou LEDs like? How much discolouration (e.g. green tint etc...) do you get? With batteries, what is their portability like?

Color is not perfect, but when I just use those light's its okey and easy to correct, but it depend's where to compare. Led's are all most allways pain in ass little bit even the best ones. With 2 battery's it work's full power and with 1 half. 2 batterys last some thing like 3 hours, but it depends on batterys mah's. I have 16 battery's and If I shut down lights between takes it last like 10 hours. with all those 4 lights and that smaller one use AA batterys. Now there is one bigger one YN-900 I woud buy it. dimmer works okey, but there is 2 versions out one with only 5500 and 5500/3200 first one have more power.

cameras:
Panasonic GH4
Sony A7S
Nikon D800

lens:
Sony 10-18mm
Lumix 12-32mm pancake lens
Olympus Zuiko 9-18mm lens
EF 24 -70mm 2.8F USM
EF 24-105mm 4F USM
EF 70-200mm 2.8F USM

DSLR. I like photography but not religiously. I think light photography between scenes or on my day(s) off keeps my eye sharp. It's also somewhat therapeutic as I'm not dealing with a crew or cast, just me, the camera and subject. blah.
