lighting What is the front lense light cover called?

I always wondered what this piece was called and what it is used for. Check out this link. it is the fan type attachment in front of the lense. Thank you.

It looks like a matte box.

Yea it's a matte box. Helps block light from shining directly into the lense for the most part.
