Hey guys, so I'm getting ready for college apps and out of curiosity, I have absolutely no idea what to say I want to major in. Ever since I started filming, I've been doing basically every part of the production (writing, acting, camera work, studio construction, editing, etc) and I'd like to continue doing that as my career. The problem is most people major in one of those, so I'm not exactly sure what to pursue that would be an all around "film-maker" like I want to.

I don't think it matters what you call it. To the best of my knowledge, most film schools only officially offer one degree -- BA in Cinema, or maybe they call it BFA in Filmmaking. Whatever.
Though I've taken some online courses that were REALLY great (in Geology), I think I tend to agree with Ray. In my opinion, one of the main benefits of film school is networking, and in developing relationships with all of the people you'll be able to collaborate with (fellow students). That dynamic doesn't exist online, so you might as well just get your degree from the School of Hard Knocks.

It depends upon the person, really.
Some people are pretty good about being self motivated to learn what they want, while other do better with a self-imposed deadline to get this or that done.
If you're a DIY madman spend $60k over the next few years making two dozen $100 shorts, a dozen $500 to $2,000 music videos, and a three >90min features with budgets cobbled together from what you have left over.
Along the way you'll meet people.
If you do better with someone saying do this do that, don't do this don't do that then spend $60k on film school and cultivate your industry contacts from there.
Headzup, most (not all) thesis films look like sh!t, so don't expect to come outta film school shooting Jerry Bruckheimer quality films.
