character What are the best characters in a script?

Just want to know what you think. What kind of character would you admire in a script? You don't need to be professional or something to answer.

Which are your favorite characters in movies?

This is just my own personal preference, I'm sure there are as many opinions as people on this topic :)

I like characters that have a more "down-to-earth" mentality to them...

REAL people don't have picture-perfect morals that fall into a "black-and-white" category. In the real world, more often than not there are no good guys or bad guys... only people who have lived through circumstances that led them to make the choices they do in life. This helps me connect to the character as I watch any given video content. There are very, very few truly evil people in the real world.

I like a character that can be interpreted in different ways. It is especially cool when people can argue over why/what/how concerning how a character affects the story... you know you've written a great script when you can stir up "fan-debates".

I like a character that evolves over time (but only if it is believable!)

For me, I like complex character arch types with a touch of generalization because when you really think about it, that's what people are. Groups and individuals. The closer you can get to reality, the more connection you can establish with your audience. On top of that, complex characters gives you the opportunity to create something new within genres that have already been covered.

I'm sure everyone actually likes three-dimensional / realistic characters. Everyone except hollywood of course, because nowdays you can only see "beautiful good guys" and things like that, for protagonists. Not to speak about the fact that they care only about special effects instead of making interresting stories or characters.

I Loved bane because of his witty comebacks and forceful bluntness, his brutish behaviour and the fact that he was just really wedge and not oversized like ronnie coleman which i know lots of americans were disappointed with.

Also The joker, equally as brutish in a nonesense kind of way, the classic walk out of hospital scene should have been sad because ..hes blowing up a hospital but it was soo funny, a Professional villian dresses up as a nurse and still looks badass while doing it... genius

generally i dont like the good guys, but a character i like from an Anime, is naruto, the way he acts shows character, the fact he has an evil ninetails inside him, he was lonely from birth, no one liked him, yet as he grows, more people bond with him and he is very emotional, his character is one that i think would be extremely difficult to pull off in real life, yet if it was it would have to be done with such conviction that a cartoon character has and even then i dont think it would match up to the standards.

i liked weird type of characters, those that dont abide by what we think they will do, who have an unatural way of grabbing my attention.

I don't know. I think Hollywood is beginning to wake up, at least to some degree. The anti-hero, though not a new concept, is starting to flourish in many popular movies and I think a large part of that has to do with Nolan. They still have a long way to go, but I think big production companies would be willing to give complex characters a shot as long as they're tied to an interesting movie that can make them a lot of money.

I actually like characters that are really flawed. I often watch a movie that is critically acclaimed and the critics will say that the characters are compelling. I then often think to myself, really? That was a compelling character. So I guess I like mine REALLY compelling in order to be effected.
