What about this lavalier?

Audio Alcove,

A friend purchased this lavalier. How does this mic rank against the lavaliers you suggested:

Sony UWP-V1 Wireless Lavalier Microphone Package (30/32 - 566 to 590MHz)

Audio Alcove :

First, if you are doing narrative work you are going to need at least two wireless lav systems, one for each actor.

The absolute minimum in terms of professional reliability are the Sennheiser G3 systems; they start at about $630 each. Yes, they are frequency agile.

It is fairly standard to replace the stock lavs with CountryMan B3 ($180) or B6 ($300-ish) lavs or the Sanken Cos-11 ($380).

The Audio-Technica ATW series ($550) is okay to fair, and the Audio-Technica Pro 88 ($200) passable for very light duty - I do not recommend either for hard use of any kind.

Stay away from VHF, stick with UHF.

If you buy used DO NOT buy anything the the 700 block which is now in use by police, fire, EMT, etc.

Just for fun, Lectrosonics are the standard; the Lectrosonics 100 series starts at about $1,300, the Lectrosonics 400 series starts at about $2k.

Next time please ask in the forum so others can benefit from the discussion.

Peace,

Bob
