Weak reel, what do you think?

So... my reel is weak. Specifically, the 'drama' section of the reel has not progressed whereas I've made a few music vids etc so that's been improving. Will be shooting some drama next year once I have some money as this is self-funded whereas with music vids, other people are stumping up the cash so have been doing that as cash has been tight (divorce).

Also, I made it into a 'low level' fest as well as a decent-sized international fest. The low level fest is close to my heart as it was my first ever fest so I've included this but don't know if I should as it's not on the festival map. As a note, I would hope with what I'm filming that I should get into a few more fests in 2015 but at the moment, that's all she wrote.

As a note, my goal was to get into the London fest by this stage so I'm really happy about this!

So what do you think? Should I split the reel? Anything you'd cut?

I know it's not great but what would you do with it?

Ha-ha. The guy fleeing the horse is awesome. I would put that first, but most of all I would like to see some smooth transitions guide us through the whole thing. The woman who gets blurred all of the sudden and then sharp again. Not getting that. Also check the cut away from her. An unclean frame.

Thanks for the feedback. The woman was my favourite shot and the knight was my least favourite! Guess standing around a freezing field in a hailstorm while a horse runs over my bedraggled butt (he did it deliberately) may have coloured my thinking.

The shot of the blurry woman is one I love but I guess that out of context it isn't great. Will check the cutaway.

And no transitions. None. Neverrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But very interesting. Will have to look at cutting in the knight etc... at the beginning of the reel.

Is this a director's reel? Honestly, it feels more like a cinematographer/editor reel. For director's reel I d expect to see of actor performances, than shot compositions..
But that's just me.

i don't get what the "official selection" laurels are for...the reel? Or are there official selections within the reel itself? seems misleading. I also enjoyed the horse thing hahaha
