VHS static plugins?

I need to make some of my footage look like it's playing through a VCR. You know those static white horizontal lines I'm talking about!
I've done some google searching but everything I found looks cheesy and fake.

Any plugins that can recreate this more accurately? Or other techniques I could use? I've already shot the footage. I'd love to be able to actually copy it over to a VHS tape but I don't have the equipment for that.

Just a suggestion: maybe you can buy a functional VHS recorder on ebay (very cheap), and a video card with TV output. So you can print your footage to a VHS tape, and capture it with the natural look. And you can repeat the process until you get the degradation level that you want.
