Upcoming Screenings

So, in the next couple of months, a number of films I'm associated with are screening at various festivals. If anyone's curious to see some of my work and happen to be in the area of any of these fests, please stop in and support indie filmmaking!

September 8 - my first film from three years ago, "Arc", rears its award-wining head once more and screens at the MicroCinema Film Festival in Palatine, Chicago. (http://www.theatrenebula.org/) This will be the 27th festival for "Arc" with 11 awards under its belt. I was writer, director, producer, editor and lead actor. (http://www.arcthemovie.com)

September 15 - my most recent film, "Cabbie", screens at the LakeDance Film Festival in Sandpoint, ID, not too far from Spokane, from what I understand. (http://www.lakedance.com/) "Cabbie" is a mockumentary that follows Minnesota native Marty Yacovelli as he pursues his lifelong dream of becoming a taxi driver. The only thing holding him back...? At age 36, he's never had a driver's license. "Cabbie" was awarded "Most Inspirational Film" at the Seattle True Independent Film Festival, and has been an official selection of five festivals. I was producer, editor and lead actor for this film, which was entirely improvised over one weekend in and around Chicago.

October 3 - 8, "Checking In" my second short film, most likely wraps up its year-long festival run at the Evil City Film Festival in NYC. (http://www.evilcityfilmfest.com/) Evil City stands for the East Village, and they're running a number of great films over the course of the fest. "Checking In" was co-written with the lead actor, Dean Evans. I produced, directed, edited and wrangled scorpions on the set of that one. "Checking In" has been an Official Sleection of 11 festivals and won two awards, one for "Best Of The Fest MicroPicture" at Bare Bones Script2Screen Film Festival, and the other for "Best Opening Scene" at the Seattle True Independent Film Festival.

October 7 - "Bedrock" a short film that was produced from a script that won at the Access Sacramento screenwriting contest will premiere at "A Place Called Sacramento" October 7. I edited the film for director Deanna McDaniel.

October 31 - "Cabbie" screens at the FAIF International Film Festival at Disneyland in Anaheim, CA. (http://www.magicalfilmfest.com/faif_films.html) It's screening in the afternoon on Halloween (a tough time slot to draw audience members), so if anyone can stop by to support it, I'd really appreciate it.

And November 1, "Scare Tactics" which I wrote for the IndieTalk Script To Screen competition, will also screen at the FAIF International Film Fest at Disneyland.

Whew - thanks. Glad I got all that off my chest!

Got a call yesterday to inform me that "Arc" picked up the award for "Best Short Comedy" this weekend at the MicroCinema Film Fest.

Feature fim "Midlothia" dominated the awards, with 7 wins, including Best Of The Fest. Congrats also to my buddy Donlee Brussel, who's short "Intoxicated Demons" picked up Best Score. His soundtrack features one of the musicians from Third Eye Blind.
