The Making Of

The Making Of (part 1)
The Making Of (part 2)

This short film was my final project for a Documentary Film class, shot during the spring 2008 semester at UC Berkeley. The premise is a documentary with its own production as its topic.

Inspired by and derivative of three primary sources:

The Man with a Movie Camera (Vertov 1929)
Chronicle of a Summer (Morin/Rouch 1961)
8 1/2 (Fellini 1963)

By appropriating techniques from these revolutionary works, the film attempts to explore longstanding cinematic topics such as objectivity vs. subjectivity and self-reflexivity.

Questions, comments, and criticisms welcome.

I really enjoyed the Making Of documentary. Great editing and counter intuitive subject matter. I loved the music as well.

Thanks for watching, glad you liked it! Everyone seems to love the soundtrack, but it's hard not to. The next step is getting the rest of the film to live up to it. :P
