Streaming Quicktime

I am building my web page and I have 3:36 min of a trailer. When I save it as a self contained streaming video it turns into 1.50 GB! I can save it at as a windows file and it takes up 9 MB. I don't know why it wants to be so huge and what I can do about it. I'm using Quicktime Pro along with Adobe Golive if that gives you any clues.
thanks
Sara

are you making it a streaming movie...or a DV stream? The DV stream will end up quite large...the streaming mov you are trying to make will just be a quicktime movie with a smaller size (320 x 240 for NTSC). I like to use the advanced options and use mpeg 4 compression as well for the web...I've been playing with h.264, but some PC folks have been having problems playing them...even with quicktime installed. I try to dumb down the audio as well from 44kHz to 22kHz to save a little space without much quality missing.
