Stabbing affect problems.

Hey guys, I am trying to do an affect where a guy gets his hand cut off. How can I do this affect with out cgi or anything like that?. his hand is no on a table, he is in an alley way and he cuts a guys hand clean off. and blood squirts out ( garden sprayer for the blood) any ideas for the hand?

also I have another affect where a guys gets tied up with a rope. the rope wraps around him up wards. I was thinking about using fishing line but am worried that my HD camera will pick up the fishing line, can you eliminate fishing line in adobe?

Shoot two shots without moving the camera even an inch. Do a clean shot with nothing in it but the background. Then have your regular shot and mask out the parts you don't want. With your clean background shot underneath. You need something like After Effects to do this.

You'll need a prosthetic hand. Either build one or buy one. To buy a professsionally made, bespoke prosthetic, you'll be looking at a fair chunk of cash. Building one, especially with no experience, will be difficult. I've actually got a severed hand, which I purchased from eBay - search for severed hand or halloween props. You can then re-paint this, to make it a look more realistic. That's probably you're best option, particularly if it's not on screen for too long.

For the rope, best option might be to go the "Evil Dead" route. Wrap the rope around the victim, hit record and pull the rope away. Then, reverse the footage, and it'll look like the rope has wrapped itself around him. You've just got to watch what the actor's up to with his face... It might get a little weird in reverse.

thanks guys, idk why didn't think about the reversed footage idea, *slaps head* I am already using that technique in the scene already. I haven't seen evil dead in a long while and would like to see that scene, what part of the movie is it at? and which evil dead?

BTW: remake looks horrible

I haven't watched it a while either, but I'm pretty sure the vines from the 'tree rape' seen of "The Evil Dead" were done this way. Definitely, in "Evil Dead 2", Bruce Campbell had to act in reverse, when he was fighting his own hand (there's some BTS footage in the making-of on the DVD). "Planet Terror" uses the effect in the scene where Tarintino's character throws up... something... and tentacles shoot out from it.
