I have a piece of history work to do on the cultural revolution in Stalin's Russia and how change in the arts impacted it.
I have to do a case study of sorts on either an artist, musician, filmmaker or something like that. Naturally I've gone with filmmaker so if anyone could tell me a reasonably well known one it'd be much appreciated.

I find the style as an experimental cinema too frenetic for my tastes, but the techniques are important as a tool in a larger toolbox.
