This was used to film 3 different short films and performs amazingly. It was only used for professional movies and was taken care of VERY WELL. It was babied actually. It has not had much use on it. The heads have not worn down and never have needed to be cleaned. The MiniDV's were never played back on the camcorder except to capture video and transfer it to a computer. Everything in this unit is in outstanding condition! It was never left in the heat, or the cold. Like I said before, it was babied. I do have the VMC-K100 which converts the hot-shoe on the top of the HC3 to a Microphone Input Jack, which is not on the base of the camera. It works phenomenally and allows the Rode VideoMic to work its magic. The Rode Dead Cat fits over the VideoMic with a snug fit and cuts out all wind noise. The Sony Shotgun mic works very well and is great if you are worried about size. The hot shoe extender/grip works great and allows for an extremely comfortable, and stable unit to carry around. The extender/grip does have a screw in so it is still tripod mountable even with it on. The wide angle lens is in great condition, no scratches on it, and is great for small rooms and parties.
