"Skin and Bone" Our new no-budget film

Hello, all!

Just wanted to let you know about our newest film from Milk and Cookie Productions, the dramatic ensemble short healthcare film, "Skin and Bone."

The film is on sale for only $7.99, including shipping and handling!

Please check out our site - I would absolutely love any feedback you would have to offer!

This film has just been released on dvd at our official website, http://www.milkandcookieproductions.com/skinandbone.html - a portion of the proceeds are being donated to Partners In Health to go towards their excellent healthcare work in Haiti, for earthquake relief and then some.

Produced entirely in Boston, Massachusetts with no budget, and an all-volunteer cast and crew, Skin and Bone is a definitively independent film close to our hearts, as medical workers and as filmmakers. The film focuses on ties between healthcare workers, patients, and their families in a large hospital, and is a rare view of life and death in a critical care unit. It serves as an homage to one of the largest industries in the country – medicine – and places a spotlight on the complex nature of illness and care.

This film has been awarded the "Best Comedy Drama over 30 minutes" Making a Difference Award by the 2009 COMMFFEST (Global) Community Film Festival, in Toronto, Canada and was an Official Selection of the Rainier Independent Film Festival 2009. It features spectacular music by Elijah Ebenezer Wyman, Jason Rozen, and Cedarwell.

Richard Propes, The Independent Critic, says "Magcalas has crafted an honest, authentic and emotionally satisfying short film that transcends its modest budget on the strength of Magcalas's insightful script and his equally insightful ensemble cast."

Rogue Cinema's Cary Conley calls the film "raw and emotional, as well as tender." "As dramatic as any episode of ER, this powerful little film rings much more true than any television medical drama. Alternately nerve-wrackingly intense and funny, writer/director and costar Philip Magcalas has created a touching and thought-provoking film about the health care field." "This terrific film is [...] a work of love and a treat for the viewer." "A film worth seeing and highly recommended."
