Short movies, free scripts?

Hello. I've been lurking around here for a few weeks now.
I just got a camera a few weeks ago(its a crappy camcorder *free*) and I wanted to use it to make some short movies. I have some ideas that I want to film but, I kinda want to save them for when I have more experience under my belt.
What I was wondering was if there are any place I can go to get screenplays for free or near to it?
I know this sounds wrong, because someone has put time into writing it, they need to be paid but, what I'm talking about is... (please excuse my ignorance) Public domain

How would you suggest I practice?

I did try sitting down with a few friends to come up with ideas and that went terribly.
Maybe we just need to be more creative. IDK

hi Matt. Its REALLY easy to get free scripts. Now of course, if all you're looking to do is practice, you could always download a movie's script you already know and use it. Or, if you want to get a little more inventive, go online or to the library and look at all of the stage plays, especially short one acts. Anything written before 1922 is totally public domain so you could film A Christmas Carol, Romeo & Juliet, The tell-tale heart, etc.

for learning, everything's fair game...I have a book of 99 movie scene thingies that I got a the local Barnes and Noble for the purposes of trying new stuff with stuff I don't have to write.
