I am beginning my first screenplay for my first movie. I am really not sure how long I need to make the screenplay as I don't want to go over 25/30 minutes in length. Does it vary much and what could I expect in length.
The rule of thumb is a minute a page, if the script is properly formatted. You don't get much on a page with proper formatting, and I'm sure it can vary a lot, but if the script is long enough, it will average out. It's not an exact science, which is one reason some scenes end up on the cutting room floor, so to speak.
