Shooting at a gas station

I've got a scene in an upcoming film that involves some dialogue outside a car while a person is getting gas at a gas station. I've read up on some of the old threads regarding trademarks, so I think I'm OK here since the product is actual intended use and the company's name is never mentioned. But I've been unable to find a way to shoot the scene without something that could possibly be trademarked off in the distance. Any of you ever shoot at a gas station? If so, how did you handle the scene?

It's just a matter of asking the manager/owner if you can shoot there. Then set up a time that works for them. You need not worry about signage or branding in the background.
