My name is Dan Perri and I am a filmmaker, born and bred. There is little in life that rivals my passion for film. Perhaps it's the prowess of Hollywood, the exchange of compelling stories, or the notion of creating art from celluloid... All I am certain of is my unyielding need to make movies and be part of this amazing industry.
That is why, after four decades in the film industry as a title designer and second unit director, during which I worked on over 300 pictures with great directors like Martin Scorsese, George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, Oliver Stone, Terrance Malick, William Friedkin, Robert Altman, Taylor Hackford, Bob Fosse, Hal Ashby, Mark Rydell and many others, I have decided to direct my own story, a story based on my grandfather, a tailor in old New York City, who became involved with the Italian mob, making suits for the neighborhood Mafia don.
Please help me make my movie by contributing to our Indie Go Go project.

A little about the film:
This is a film about a suit. Not just any suit, mind you, but a sharkskin suit made especially for the Italian Mafia Don. More importantly, this is a film about the tailor who fit him.
"Sharkskin" is the Post War II story of Manhattan born Mike Esposito, a practiced tailor of custom mens clothing; a man of dignity and honor, whose developing involvements with the Italian mob wraps him up in a world of moral dilemma and clashing values.
When Mike's dream of making a suit for the local mafia head, Don Piano, becomes a reality, he unavoidably begins to face the criminal world and its stark contrast with his highly held principles. The pay is lucrative, the prestige grand, but when Mike's son, Sammy, unexpectedly becomes a student of and a participant in the mob's operations, Mike begins to question the effects on his family as a consequence of his accepting the job.
Moreover, when Mike becomes involved with Franki, the beautiful daughter of a local merchant and one of Mike's oldest friends, the laundering Antonio Scutella, who met his end at the hand of the Mafia, the realization that he may be in over his head and jeopardizing his marriage, his life and the security of his family is becoming evermore clear.
Although Mike's family is in strong disapproval of his newly found employment, the draw of the Mafia proves to be too much when Mike's wife, Lilly, accepts a position as Don Piano's new cook under duress from her husband.
Collectively, Mike and his family make an effort to remove themselves from the Mafia and all that encompasses it when it is brought to light that rival Don Crivello has been provoking Don Piano. However, the old adage that, "once you're in, you're in," proves difficult to break.
Thank you for helping me make my life's passion.
