Setting Up Laser Fire For Post

Should I put red paint on the tip of our prop laser rifles so we can track the rifle movement in post to add laser fire?

You could, but IMO it create more work. If you used green it'd be a bit more simple.

A good VFX artist won't need it for simple laser or bullet firing. Unless you've got a laser similar to a whip or something like that, then it would help more than hurt.
