INT. INTERROGATION ROOM

Carl is sitting at the desk and the door opens and Sam slowly comes in. Carl motions him in.

CARL
Go ahead and sit down​

Carl sits back in his chair as Sam gets situated, after letting the scene breath Carl looks at Sam.

CARL (CONT’D)
So, tell me, where were you on the evening of March 27th?

SAM
I’ve already been through all this

CARL
Let’s go through it again

Sam shakes his head

SAM
I told you, I was at Mary’s house

CARL
Mary?

SAM
Yeah, Mary Winestad, my (pause) friend.​

Carl sits back in his chair and strokes his chin

CARL
What if I were to say that I contacted Mary Winestad and she had a very different story?

SAM
I would say that you are lying

CARL
Oh yeah, what if I told you Mary Winestad is right in that room next door to us?

SAM
That’s impossible​

Carl leans forward and smiles

CARL
Now that I believe. There is no Mary Winestad is there? The reason that it is impossible for her to be sitting in that room right there is because she simply doesn’t exist

Sam fidgets

SAM
I don’t know what you are talking about. I think I should have my lawyer here
Sam stands up

CARL
Sit down​

Sam slowly sits back down

CARL (CONT’D) It’s ok. It is, I already know. I know that Mary Winestad isn’t real, and I also know that you didn’t murder anybody The only thing that I don’t know, is what you did do on the evening of March 27th​

Sam looks blank for a moment

CARL (CONT’D)
Ok Sam, let’s go call your lawyer

SAM
I don’t know

CARL
I’m sorry?

SAM
I don’t know where I was that night.

CARL
What do you mean, like you were black out drunk or on drugs or something?​

Sam looks up at Carl intensly

SAM
What I'm about to tell you, You are not going to believe​
