A drama. I'm using a canon t3i with a kit lense but mostly my 50mm.

Looking good. Just beware of the trap of using a shallow DOF on every shot with the nifty fifty.

Thanks! Yeah, I know. I have a 18-55 kit lens I think it is. But I don't use it because the footage always comes out noisy even the dark spots when I'm out shooting in the sun. So I'm just working with the 50mm

That's exactly what I meant. My apologies if it came off as a warning against using the 50mm too much.

Actually, let's throw that in there as well. Everything should not be shot at 50mm either. The human eye is used to seeing things the 50mm way so just by changing perspective, things become more interesting.

Either way, aperture size or focal length wise, the scene and its purpose should dictate your choice, if budget allows.
