I know there is a thread with free ideas, but this is just an idea about a screenplay I'll write next. Please point out any similar movies(so I can avoid copying them without knowing) and comment...
I. Title: Come With Me into the Wonderful City
II. Synopsis:
The main character(name chosen later on), has just been put down by life. He's lost his job, his wife and his house. Depressed, he walks into a park to meditate and plan his suicide. A mysterious man approaches him and asks him to come into a fantasy land known as Wonderful City, a place he describes as heaven-like, where everyone is happy and wishes come true.
The main character, with nothing to loose, follows the mysterious man and discovers a beautiful land, marvelously decorated, with happy people, and he is offered a house. He is overwhelmed with joy, as everything looks so nice and peaceful. He also gets a kind of robot to act as his personal butler. He enjoys this good life for a while, until he finds a sorcerer's house and drinks a magic potion.
His eye open and sees the truth: The beautiful landscape turns grim, dark, frightening. Calm smiling people appear now twisted, demon-like creatures. The main character plans to escape this horrible place and meanwhile finds other humans. They're prisoners. They tell him this is the real Wonderful City, where innocent victims are lured with promises of peace and joy, but in fact, they cannot see the real image. The purpose: to lvie there as slaves, unaware that the evil entities drain their life energies so they can become stronger.
The main character is attacked by various beasts: golems, skeletons, demons and sorcerers, as he fights to escape and save the other prisoners.
