For NYC area filmmakers who may be attending the Evil City Film Festival this weekend - my second short film, "Checking In" will be screening this Friday afternoon at 4PM in the Millennium Theater. It will be part of a larger short film block.
From one on-line reviewer: "Dean Evans is hilarious as an inept dreadlocked thief who finds his situation becoming ever the more complicated as he attempts to rob a hotel and is interrupted by a militant cop, and an intrusive difficult customer (“Got a key there, fragglerock?”). Gelder, who has a knack for storytelling, introduces a plot twist that you will not see coming that was executed with an almost ingenious style, and I was left with my jaw hanging down when the credits finished rolling."
"Checking In" was chosen "Best Of The Fest MicroPicture" in 2006 by the Bare Bones Script-2-Screen Film Festival and was awarded "Best Opening Scene" at the 2007 Seattle True Independent Film Festival.
