I said IF there is a phantom power option, and said I wasn't sure about that recorder. My bad otherwise.

The VM doesn't run on phantom power but 9v. No worries, I assumed that a mic used for this application would need phantom as well.

Your dynamic mics won't be affected, nor your ribbon if they are wired correctly.

To the OP, your mic is unbalanced and should be ran if using a boom pole with an xlr cable converted. Though I assume you are point and shoot since you are using the VM for your dialogue and in that case use on top of the camera, the line in is quieter than your h4n pres.
