Question

Hello, my name is Omar, i live in London. I just wanted to ask if anyone knows how to get a volunteer job on an actual film set, to get ''on the job'' experience. Whether or not it's possible, and if its recommended or not.
Could be short films, TV movies, feature films documentaries or whatever...just want to see how a film is made...get the feel of a set.

Dont shoot the newbies,
Thank you for your time,
Omar

My suggestion, being from outside the UK, would be to keep an eye on craigslist (http://london.craigslist.co.uk/) and contact anybody who's gearing up for a production... I've actually had decent luck getting involved in crewing on shorts that were only advertised as seeking actors. Remember, it never hurts to ask, even if what you're after isn't explicitly being sought out.

If you come across anything that's looking for actors, shoot them an email and ask if they need any additional production assistants, explain that you're very interested in film making, and want to get some practical on-set experience. If you're willing to work for free, you probably won't have to ask too many times before someone says yes.

As for other resources, I can't say... but I'm sure some of our UK based members will be along to offer suggestions at some point. :)

Good luck. And :welcome:
