Production to Distribution deals, who makes them?

Hello.....My limited understanding of getting a film after completion, into Distribution is limited...Normally (any statements I make, please correct), the studio makes a deal with a distribution Company after its been made... I have an Executive Producer who will raise funding (fingers crossed) for my Film, and will only take a share of the overall Budget, but doesn't take royalties...Now, if your Film is being funded by an Independent Producer, is it him that makes the Distribution Deal, or in my case, would my Production Company I set up, be seeking to made the distribution deal with which ever Company?

It's more common for the deal to be made before production begins.

ok, check.

It'd be spelled out in the agreement. If not, it's common for the PMD to organize it. Failing not having one of those, it'd usually fall to the producer, or the assigned sales agent. There's no real hard and fast rules for this. It's best to have a written agreement to where it spells out roles, expectations and remuneration.
