Hey,

Has any one edited DSLR native h.264 on premiere cs5/5.5 without using mercury playback engine? How smooth does it playback and can it playback an edit smooth full res (no fx)?

I ask because ive got a new comp core i7 2700k with 16gb ram but have an ATI gfx card.

Works great on an HP core I7 with only 8 gig of memory. I thought I would at least try it before I bought a graphics card. I superimposed about four or five layers of video, added in some text ... still worked great.

If it ever does slow down a little, I lower my preview resolution.

I think the mercury engine only helps with certain effects, not overall previewing.
