preamp?

What are you looking for the preamp to accomplish? Are you looking to fatten up the sound? Warm it up?

ART and PreSonus both make tube preamps that do a LOT to make vocals sound better on my music recordings, and they can each be had for well under $100. How that would translate to audio for film, I don't know...
 
You would be better off investing in a decent mixer, although I'm sure you don't want to spend that kind of money; "reasonable" has different meanings to different budgets.

Either one will give a noticeable improvement to your sound and will supply phantom power for long periods to most mics.
