Planning My Action Flick

Okay,

I've always believed in working with a system.

I have 3 stunt coordinators for my new production; one for each group of characters in the production that requires a specialty for the different kind of action each group does.

Part of every audition is a stunt audition to see if the new cast has enough skills in stunts for a stunt coordinator to work with, considering the cast is only getting one week to rehearse. Actors who love to talk where that's all they do in their reels and resumes are systematically being filtered out of this production. As a friend of mine who is a stunt coordinator said quit bluntly, "It's not a stunt coordinator's job to baby sit neophytes. Stunt Coordinators want people with the proper training to work with."

Interesting that more than 60% of people applying are ignoring the SPECIAL SKILLS part of the breakdowns.

The idea of using 3 stunt coordinators is to give the action a more dynamic look for original science fiction action. They will meet together with me and key crew people to design the action on a weekly basis, so we are all on the same page.

That's my plan. The end result should be good.
