Penn State students add to the disgrace

The lawyer defending the victims said they shouldn't of fired Paterno. He told the VP of what he knew. Vice did nothing. Now he loses his job and he'll die pretty soon. Football was his lively hood. Lose livelihood then it's all over.

Not defending child molesters. Just poor decision making on some boards part that probably knows more and what heat off of their back so they don't lose their jobs.

We weren't there when the grad student told him he had seen something inappropriate. From what I've read, it sounds like the information supplied was incomplete, at least. That being the case, I'm not a fan of trial by public opinion.

It's possible that he may have turned a blind eye to a horrendous act; it's also possible that the information given to him was tremendously inadequate. We don't know.

The university didn't really have a choice; even if it does turn out that JoePa acted appropriately, they had too much of a PR nightmare on their hands to keep him around.

Until I see any bit of solid evidence that he helped hide information that should've been brought to authorities, I'm still a fan of JoePa. Call me naive if you want, but there have been so many things written about him being a total class-act, from a million different sources, that I'm inclined to believe that he did what he believed was best, and that he probably didn't know what was going on.

In this day and age you just need to do a bit more than report it to VP. The guy was still apparently hanging around the locker rooms.

The university is more than football and Joe.

BTW, you doc filmmakers might want to get your butt in gear and hustle out there while this historic PR nightmare is unfolding . . . I'm on the wrong coast.

Read the Grand Jury document, you can see exactly what was said to Paterno. Paterno had more than enough information to call for immediate suspension of Sandusky and police investigation. But he didn't and knowingly allowed a predator to continue to rape children. This was massive conspiracy that likely involved other Universities and many highly placed people -- and all to protect the Nittany Lions and its godhead: JoPa.

If you'd asked me a week ago my favorite sports coaches, I'd say 1) John Wooden 2) Joe Paterno. I was a huge fan. Now I'd love nothing more than to see him behind bars. No Joe, your fucking program isn't more important than the lives of innocent children.

Oh. I don't need to read it; I'll just believe you. I wasn't aware that much information was available; I've only been following it on cnnsi.com, etc. That's very sad to hear that that was what happened.

The transcript is out there now, easy to find, I won't link it, it's not for the faint of heart. It's just awful. I wasn't able to finish reading it.

Here's a few strange facts/factoids:
1) The DA has had the evidence for several years and yet waited and waited and waited before finally doing something serious.

2) The DA initially investigated the case in 1998, the supervising DA didn't press charges. In 2005 the same DA vanished and hasn't been heard from since. His laptop hard drive wiped clean and unable to be restored by recovery services.

3) Sandusky was the Defensive Coach on the most prestigious defense in college football. Penn State
is referred to as "Linebacker U". Defensive Coaches normally are recruited by other schools for Head Coaching jobs. It's a common stepping stone. Yet in 23 years and after multiple championships, no school ever recruited Sandusky.

4) Last week, Paterno, after 46 years as head coach, passed Eddie Robinson to become the winningest coach in ncca history. The following week he's fired. Odd timing?
