..Party scene, mixing two time lines?

..I've got a party scene that I want to open with, but during the party I'd like to also tell about the drive to the party. Can anyone think of any pointers? or examples?

The only thing I can come up with right this second is:

I imagine the party is 'real' time.. and will be warm.
I imagine the drive there is the 'past' and will be tinted cool.

Thanks again, you guys have been extremely helpful during this project.

Sounds intriguing!

I don't know you have your story laid out, but perhaps at the party, you have people A, B, C, D: and you would do a close up of "A", then cut to "A" in the car, and their perspective, or piece of conversation, then back to party, close up of "B", then cut to "B" s perspective in the car.

I like the warm/cool colours though-maybe if you go cool colours, variations for each of A, B, C, D?

Hi, Rob

To work off of Tinalera's suggestion of A B C & D characters, the four of them could be engaged in a conversation at the party. As they cover a "hot topic" they would each have flashbacks to relevant moments in their cars driving to the party.

Color coding blue for the flashbacks could be one way to handle it.
- You could skew the entire color palate for each of them: blue, lavender, yellowed, grey.
- Or just switch to grayscale or some level of a desaturated appearance.
- Focus/DOF could be thrown from "just off" to completely distorted.
- The camera could concentrate DOF just on tight details of hands, eyes, mouth, mirrors, cell phones, radio whatever, and just skip the wholeness of any scene.
