We held auditions Saturday and cast a wonderful actress Jenna D'Angelo to play Nancy's room-mate Shari.
We were also casting for a blind old man who Nancy helps out whenever she sees him. He's kind and interested in her youth. We had quite a few good old men come in to audition. Basically we could pick anyone and they'd do fine. There was one that was slightly better then the rest (he's in the video).
However, this one guy comes in extremely confident, funny, and pretty good. He does his audition and doesn't leave. He says "Let me tell you about myself". He then talks about his fans stopping him on the street... Check him out on IMDB... He's written and directed movies in the 70s. I'm like OK, thank you I will.
What he should have said and I'd have known the movie right off was, he wrote and directed BLOODSUCKING FREAKS. It was Joel Reed auditioning.
I have to use him.
He's not in the following video. Because the two times we went through the scene he didn't get the line right.
But, this is a tiny compilation of auditions. It's just a few people. But, who of these wouldn't you give a part to? This is what they prepared. No notes, nothing. Except the girl that's terrible. She read better, so I had to tell her to suck it up more. Her body is BUFF.
I know many people outside of NY or LA complain they don't have access to the talent. But, none of these people are from NY. Katelyn's from Albany, Jenna's from Michigan and Leslie's from Louisiana. Seek and ye shall find.
