So I was in a nostalgic mood last night, and I don't know why, but the topic of MIA's popped into my mind, specifically, Vietnam Mia's.
My mom had received a metal bracelet, in 1972, with the name of an MIA from the Vietnam war. She wore it religiously for years and then decided I was old enough to take over stewardship of the piece. I was heartbroken to have lost it in the early 80's while jumping from a boat into Balsam Lake. It sunk twenty feet to the bottom and was never recovered.
I'll never forget his name: 'Wade Groth, (lost on) 2/12/68'...but I had forgotten the resources of the internet.
I did a search on Wade Groth and found thousands of sites...what a wonder the net is! We were able to find bios on him, and , a photograph. He was only 21 years old when he was lost.
I just want to say thank you to him, and the many people who have given their lives so that the rest of us may continue in our pursuits.
