Noob Questions on DSLR filming

I have a Canon 600d with interchangeable lens. What would be the best settings on my DSLR to shoot quite moody and gray-ish atmospheric scenes?

I'm not sure what is the "best" settings, but I like to shoot everything on a flat surface. Then I add whatever effect I want in post. These are my settings:

1920x1080 (24FPS)
Sharpness: 2
Contrast: -4
Saturation: -2
Color Tone: 0

More than likely, shooting a scene that's "moody" will be a reflection on how you light the scene, not what camera settings you use.

Figure out a moody lighting scheme, get a flat setting on your camera so that you have maximum dynamic range, and meter your shots.
