Node versus Linear

So last night an animator is saying that instead of trying to learn After Effects, a linear application, I should instead go with something like Nuke or Motion, which are node based software.

Which is an easier interface? Node or Linear? I would guess linear since I'm already using Sony Vegas which is linear (timeline) based.

Depends what your goals are if its advanced compositing then Nuke is the go to program, if its motion graphics, vfx, simple compositing etc or your starting out and trying this stuff out After Effects is prob the best as its got a fairly easy learning curve compared to Nuke which is aimed at a more professional market.
