editing News Footage - Great Historical Moments

Hello,

I don't know if this is the right forum to post in, so apologies if it is.

I'm doing an editing project where I would like to splice in some great historical moments, to give you an example, the Berlin wall coming down. That's just one example mind.

Where would I go about finding some footage? I know youtube is the logical one, but I don't want to trawl through countless videos that may or may not be great. I was hoping for more of an archived version, or list even.

Try Archive.org for public domain and Creative Commons licensed footage.

Be careful just using video you find online. Someone owns the copyright on it (whoever recorded it), so you can't just use it without permission.

I know all about copyright etc. But I'm not doing it to upload or anything, it's just an exercise for myself.

You may also try: GotfootageHD.com and Pond5.com.

They have big stock footage libraries.

Cheers, but some of those have the watermarks, which is annoying. I think I've found a decent amount of sites with footage now that I can begin editing.
