Hey guys im just starting out and Im just wondering what type of camera is best for shooting short films for my current level.

depends on your experience and budget...there are several threads in this forum on this topic already with lots of responses. Use the search tool at the top of this page and look for "which camera".

Well, like I told a younger guy at my school; I would first start with a smaller consumer camera. But thats just my opinion. I used a sony handycam I bought for 200-300$, and played with that for a couple years. I also took a video production class, and additional art related film classes at my highschool. Then when you are ready to upgrade, you can think about getting a prosumer camera, costing anywhere from 800-10,000$, depending on your budjet. It would be a waste of money to buy something expensive, because you may not know if you really want to become serious in film making or not.
