New to filming - How to sync

Hello,

My music band wants to create a dvd.

But i'am stuck on a problem now,

We are recording the audio with a Alesis HD24 Recorder , We want to get 3 Sony 3CCD camera's, 1 thats stays static in the center and 2 that walk arround, but how do i make sure that the sound and the 3 camera's are started on the same time so that the movie is synchronous.

I hope someone can help me with this problem a.s.a.p.

Thanks so far!

When you start the the recording, it helps to use a clap-board to create a visual event that corresponds to a strong spike in the audio wave file. Use a movie editing software program (like Premiere Pro, Final Cut, Vegas, Windows Movie Maker, etc). First import the audio recording into an audio track with the clapboard strike at the beginning. Then bring in your three video files and drop them into three video layers in your program. Line them up so that the audio spike for the clapboard matches the strike of the clap-baord in the video clip. Then you will know that your audio and video are in sync. From there, you can cut away the bits from the video you don't want and save the ones you do.

That's one way of doing it. Another way is to just grab the video clips you want, place them in the editing timeline and then nudge them around until the band motion (like lip movement or finger placement) matches the audio. This might be more tedious, but it save you from having to keep full video files in multiple layers.
