New filmmaker with business grant

So I'm applying for a business grant that can pay up to $25,000. I have a feeling that it will be coming back approved and so I'm trying to decide what I should be purchasing for camera and editing equipment.

I am new to filmmaking, but I want to be able to provide a quality product. I know it'll take practice and that I won't be good right off the bat, but I want to get good.

So the question is, what should I buy?

I'd like to get 2 Camcorders so that I can record multiple angles at the same time. Looking to spend approx $2500-$5000 per camera.

Looking at getting a T2i for a DSLR for stills and some short HD footage.

Trying to decide if I want to go with a iMac (around $5000) for editing, although I have no real knowledge about using Macs except for my Ipod. Also was tossing around the idea of the Dell Studio XPS 9100, having an i7 Processor, 12+gb of ram, and upgrading to a 2gig card if need be.

I know I need lighting, reflectors and I've found them pretty cheap, so I'm not too worried about it, unless there's something I should actually avoid.

What's best for editing software? I see a lot of people talking about Sony Vegas, is that my best bet?

I'd like to get a separate mic to hook onto a boom as well, but I've been looking into the different types of mics and I'm a little unsure of what I'd want.

I'm looking to do some short films, maybe a full length if we have a script to support it. It will be still on the amateur side. I'll be recording weddings and family gatherings for extra cash on the side as well.

Remember, I'm a newb so I'm just learning as I go. I'm currently reading Filmmaking for Dummies as a jump off point into this new world, and I'll probably follow it up with Film editing for Dummies until I get into more serious literature. I'm bad now, but I wan't to be good, so any help is great.

Thanks in advance.

I'm not going to go into the advisability of starting a business of which you admit you have little knowledge. I was a touring/studio musician with a home demo studio for over 30 years, and then worked for other studios for more than six years before I decided to open my own facility.

Here's my version of a passable low-budget production sound kit:

You'll also need some nice headphones.

When you add a few extra XLR cables, a good case for everything else, some insurance and a few odds and ends this totals under $2,500.

I'd like to apply for one of those grants as well.
What sort of information/details did you include to secure that approval?

The grant is through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund for Young Entrepeneurs, so sorry Trueindie and other beings, you gotta live in the boonies for this grant.

As to Alcove Audio, I'm starting it as a home based business, so no rent or anything. I have a strong team of people that have experience in filming, acting, and even one person who went to school for film critic, and I'll be employing their help to produce the best product I can get.

Where I live, Timmins, there are no real working actors. There's no film or acting community to speak of, so if I know little of the business, the people I'll be working with will probably know less.

I don't plan on making professional films, I'll learn as I go, attend seminars to refine my abilities, and grow from there.

And thank you for the audio suggestions.
