My first mini-doc! Feedback Welcomed!

Hey guys,

This is my first time posting here. I am a 19 year old film maker and I've been shooting since I was 17. I've primarily worked for companies in the automotive industry, specifically motorsports. After doing some docu-style films for a few motorsport companies, I realized that my passion for film making goes far beyond filming race cars. I am currently located on the east coast and I collaborate with 2 other guys in Los Angeles. We found an extremely interesting human interest news article online and decided to try and put together a mini-doc on this person. So I contacted the man from the article and scrounged up some money to travel to New Orleans to shoot it. It was shot in 2 days, on 5D MK ii's with L Glass. I worked as the main camera operator/dp, as well as the editor/colorist. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the film and I gladly welcome any criticism!

Very nice, a great story and film.

You're way ahead of the game if you're producing work like this at 19!

I did find the music mix a to be little overwhelming to the voice at times, but that's a pretty minor complaint and it didn't detract too much from my enjoyment of the film.

Oh - and welcome to IndieTalk! Hope you'll stick around a while.

I was having a bit of trouble finding the perfect medium for audio levels, I'm glad you liked it though!

And I'll definitely be sticking around!

You really have a talent for filmmaking - keep going!

Some specific comments about your doc: I really loved the muted colors. It gave the tone and feel immediately. The setup shots with the different angles and the shallow depth of field was dramatic. The pacing was good and the music selection was good as well. My only suggestion was on the sound recording of his voice. It may just be my crappy computer speakers but it didn't sound as clear as it could be. It a minor point since the visuals were top notch.
Very, very well done.
