My first external mic!

I guess this would be newbie :)

Got my first Mic :)

It's a Shure C608WD with XLR cable. It won't have you shaking in your boots :), but it labels itself as a Dynamic Cardioid Unidirectional(can a Mic be Dynamic and Cardioid?). I did some testing on it with the camera, and wow-what a difference (it's not a hugely priced mic).

I can actually hear myself without the noise of the camera in the background. Much clearer and crisper compared to the camera mic. Experimenting with sound effects gives some pleasing results (anything would be pleasing compared to the camera mic.)

For me, this a big step up. Has a mini-plug and a decent length of cable-if I want to come up with a "boom" setup (sans shotgun obviously).

I don't have to "eat" this one-I can have it away from my face and it picks up clearly. I plan on using it to redo the audio for Delivery Day sound effects, ect-see how much crisper it is.

I just had to share the news about the bab----er, the mic ;)

Anyone have experience with this mic or similar?

cool! I spent a lot of time under a shotgun mic/xlr/shure mixer set up and I used to love the sound of being under headphones and hearing everything very clearly. my best advice, have fun playing, and stay away from barking dogs!

We have a neighbour dog (cute little thing), I'd like to get. I'm not using headphones, that's not a bad idea....:) Interesting, I held the microphone in my hand, and I got crackling feedback. I slid the mic into the mic holder it came with, and held it by that (I'm fashioning a boom pole), and amazing the cracking disappeared!

Oh, I've been have loads of fun with it...can't wait to put it to Delivery Day and see what I can do with it :)
