My Entrance into Filmmaking

Entrance into Filmmaking- Use of Important Contact

As some of you know, I'm still a kid but am keeping my eye on the goal of becoming a director/writer in the industry.

I've been blessed with supportive parents, so I have that settled. Lately, though, my dad's told me his co-worker and close friend's brother is an important, Oscar-nominated DreamWorks executive, and that he's told him- through his brother- that I'm interested in that industry and have written a few "features". So the guy tells my dad he's eager to see my screenplay(s) and is all for helping me out.

So, how should I wisely use this contact? Any advice would be great, thanks! :)

I have a similar story...If he is a friend of the family, keep him close. It only take one good contact :)

With that said, dont smother him....do your job, which is to keep learning and doing your own projects...keep getting better. Eventually, you will be ready to take that next serious step....and there is your contact.

I'm no longer a kid, but young and just starting with film. My advice, write ALOT.

One more time....WRITE ALOT....READ ALOT.

Get those creative juices flowing.
