So after having seen others on the web, using different Wii wheels to make a cheap DIY steadycam setup, I had to try it myself.
So i managed to snag a cheap wii wheel, and after some short work, it's temporarily done.
Basically just carved some plastic away, and made a screw hole for the mic.
Now all it needs is a longer screw with bigger washers, and some foam to help hold the mobile phone better in place. And exchanging the pipe cleaners with something less showy...
Tried it out yesterday, and it worked quite well. Got some good footage from inside military vehicles, and running around filming a millitary exercise... and thinking about how shaky it would have been, i think it came out quite well.. now to just run it through warp stabilizer...
