Muzzle Flash Feedback please?

basically good, but too clean and crisp looking; I'm thinking the muzzle blast was probably too big and bright for reality, but okay for an action flick. The lighting effect worked well. The sound does not sell (the plastic clicking noises).

The biggest issues are the color and shape. You need to make it white or ad some variation in color like with a real muzzle flash. Usually a little more orange near the barrel and a tad bit of yellow at the leading edge with the center mass more white. Right now it looks like a shape dropped on the video. Muzzle flashes are usually a little more organic.

Then don't use the same shape for every shot. muzzle flashes vary each time.

A little smoke would also help sell the effect. not a lot, just enough so it is almost not even noticeable.

When overlaying the flash try playing with the transfer settings. usually add or color dodge work better and blend a tad with the background.

If need be blur the edges of the flash some.

are you creating the flash yourself or using stock video or what?

I used a stock photo, and the same one every time yeah.
Other people have said that too, basically that the flash isn't blended and dynamic enough.
Thanks for the helpful tips, it'll all be taken into consideration when I next attempt this affect.
