Music in Movies

I am looking into filming next summer and in my script I based an entire scene off of a song. The song is by a famous rapper and I was just wondering, would I be able to use music like you hear on the radio in my film? Or would I have to go through all kinds off legal things and what not to get the ok to use it? Also would I be able to use a score from another movie? It would only be one part and the rest I am scoring myself. It is an indie film so my budget is very low.

If you ever want to try and sell or market this film commercially or submit to any reputable film festivals, you might as well rewrite the scene now without using the rap song and save yourself the trouble. Without a large budget you will never get the rights to use it.

Using a score from another film is also an automatic no.

If you're just making this film for fun or for practice, use whatever music you want.
