Movies featuring character(s) based on real life people

I'm currently writing a movie who's main character has characteristics are based off of someone in reality. Is their any legal repercussions to this? If so, is there any way I can avoid these without having to write something new?

Almost every character I write is based off someone in reality. Just avoid really obvious parallels and change their names and you should be okay. If you have any doubts once the script is done, then consult a lawyer.

When the movie gets made, they'll (or you should, if you shoot it yourself) include the standard disclaimer:

"This photoplay is a work of fiction. Any similarity actual persons, places or events is coincidental and unintentional."

Or something along those lines.

Ya, just make it not completely obvious--and add the above disclaimer.
