For Production Sound they use carts like this:

What you aren't seeing is the mic locker and wireless systems. Adding it all together, these sound carts are probably in the $50k range.

Oh, yeah; the production sound team is also responsible for for the on-set comms as they are audio related. This includes headphone feeds to the the camera op, director and anyone else who wants it, a sound feed to the video village plus walkie-talkies and bullhorns.
 
In "smaller" productions and situations where you cannot get a sound cart there may be a single boom-op who has the mixer, recorder and even several wireless receivers slung around his neck.

In addition to the photos of the Dubbing stages Alcove has posted, the big audio post houses are complete facilities with huge computer networks, sound design rooms, Foley stage/s, ADR room/s and quite a few audio editing suites. In the case of Skywalker Sound I believe they have somewhere around 50 audio editing suites.

All the equipment and various rooms required for audio post are only half the equation though, some of the largest films may employ an audio post team of up to 70 or so audio post professionals (plus support staff), although a team of 40-50 audio post pros is more common.

Yup; it all comes down to a whole lot of talented people sitting alone in editing rooms.
